E Pals

In May I blogged about e pals. http://www.epals.com/
For the second half of the year, my class has been connecting with a school in the states through our wikis. This has been very exciting for the kids, and has created a great learning opportunity on many levels. We received a parcel from them, and then put together some things to send to them. The kids selected some art work and two books to send. They took great pride in selecting the things to send.

Have a look at our record of the parcels.

Have a look at our epals wikispace. This school has connected with several school around the world, and keep track through their wiki. I think this a great idea.
Give epals a go.

Nearly two years ago, I put my name down to joine epals but I dont know what went wrong but the registration never went through. What a wonderful connection you have made!! The students just love the e-connection, but realy parcels and real items are still very much valued as well.
The connections I have made have been mainly through blogging and other social networks, but I still often wonder whether I should try and re-join epals.

I think making the connections is the most important thing. I must admit, it took me ages to get registered, I had to resort to an email to the help desk at epals. i am sure there are other sites out there making connections between classes, has anyone used any other sites?

I've tried with epals before-with little success. Have you seen this wiki with class blogs from all over the world? http://theedublogger.edublogs.org/check-out-these-class-blogs/ and here are the original entries http://theedublogger.edublogs.org/2008/11/10/calling-all-class-blogsplease-share-your-blog-url-with-us/

If you find a blog you like the look of leave a comment and a link or contact them directly if you can.

It does seem that a few people have had problems getting going with epals.
Getting on the net and making connections for ourselves as professionals, and for our class can be effective.
